Community Empowerment Programme (CEP)


Description

Purpose: to empower the citizens of Mauritius in building an information society by enabling the creation and sharing of information and knowledge for community development.

Initiatives:
1. Development of Community Web Portal - to empower people to use ICT for development, democratise access to information, facilitate networking and stimulate the local content development and creativity on the Internet.
2. Setting up of regional Computer Clubs (290 clubs in Social Welfare Centres, Community Centres and Day Care Centres, out of which 120 completed, enabling some 300,000 people to use the facilities).
3. Establishment of 95 Public Internet Access Points in Post Offices.
