Intelligent watering taking advantage of the existing irrigation installation

Description

Our first prototypes started working in 2016, and by the end of 2017 we started connecting to irrigation equipment to do Smart Irrigation based on the information from our irrigation algorithm. In 2018 we started to incorporate satellite images to make the solution more competitive in price, while using the concept of guidance sensors, to reduce the investment in sensors. The adoption / market validation stage has passed in the years 2018 and 2019. And since the last quarter of 2020 we have entered the Proven / Scalable stage, starting in new markets such as the Italian in Europe, and the Mexican in America. BrioAgro has more than 250 installations, most of them in Spain, with all kinds of producers in the agro-food industry. In addition accumulates experience in more than 40 different crops.

Replicability

Tech: Web platforms (forums, communities, e-governance); Remote sensing (satellites, planes, drones); Sensors (weather, GPS tagging, livestock); Robotics (agrobots, driverless tractors); Internet of Things (IoT) (M2M, WiFi, networks); Broadband internet (mobile, satellite, cable); Cloud (data storage and computing, Big data); Artificial Intelligence (Machine / deep learning); Digital communication (telephone, messenger, email); Software solutions (programs and packages)

More than developed in partnership, developed in collaboration and integration with other existing technologies, to be able to be processed from our platform, but also to be able to be managed from a third-party platform through APIs. Integration is fundamental in our days, because there are many farmers who already use some technology to manage their farms, and we can integrate with other solutions that already have API for it, without losing our functionality. And on the other hand, to build our solution we have had to rely on many existing technologies, to focus them to solve the problem we are addressing, for example, meteorology, satellite, hosting, IoT communications, and the same with hardware, we have managed to connect with 95% of the irrigation programmers on the market to be able to take advantage of them without having to make a new investment, and if it is necessary to do so, we already know companies with which we have full integration, which will be the ones we recommend to customers We are also versatile connecting various market sensors, such as water meter to our datalogger to collect information.

Sustainability

BrioAgro’s main value for the agricultural sector is that is crop-specialized low-cost scalable ecosystem, based on the data, easy to understand for farmers of irrigation fields. BrioAgro enables these farmers to tackle their task in a more efficient way, reducing costs, irrigating in an eco-responsible way. Regarding our main innovative points, these are: ● Monitoring system through sensors, supported by most communication protocols in the past, present and nearby future. ● Algorithm of the calibration of humidity of the soil. Modelling it so that it can be an autonomous system. ● Use of multispectral satellite photographs to extend the information of the guide sensor to all the farm, recommending and applying for each sector. ● Generating predictions related to harvesting related to three different fields (A. Date- optimal-quality C. Kilos). ● Use of low-cost multispectral cameras to determinate the predictions of harvesting and improving the information for fertilizing and treating. The differential innovative advantage of the system lies on a soil calibration algorithm adapted to each soil and crop, which indicates when to irrigate and how long, to avoid stress and wasting water. That way, BrioAgro’s technology can operate precisely in different climatological conditions by: •Monitoring the evolution of the crops focusing on the variables that can be used in open-air cultivation, which are irrigation and fertilization. •Make responsible use of water and fertilizers, applying in an objective manner the contributions that the crop requires, without squandering or contaminating underground aquifers. Using intelligent irrigation systems for this. • Use artificial intelligence to obtain the necessary information of the optimum harvest date, and how irrigation management and fertilization can influence the determination of that optimum harvest date.
