Movimiento STEM

Description

Movimiento STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is a non-profit association that seeks to promote in Mexico and Latin America, STEM education, future jobs and innovation, with social and inclusive vision. We are the leader of the STEM Ecosystem in Mexico, an initiative endorsed by Global STEM Alliance and STEM Learning Ecosystems, and at the moment the only initiative endorsed in Latin America. STEM is a global trend that promotes the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics as pillars for sustainable development and social welfare. STEM is beyond grouping these subjects. It is a movement that develops in a deep way the scientific and mathematical thought. We propose a solution-based learning of problems with social and inclusive vision. Drives the careers of the future and develops indispensable skills to compete in the working world of the 21st century. The STEM competencies that we develop and certify are those that the World Economic Forum considers as the most relevant to compete in the 21st century, and are: critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication, collaboration, data literacy , computation and computer science.

Replicability

The STEM Ecosystem has more than 80 institutions, schools, organizations and stem experts throughout the country, consolidating strategic alliances with research centers, academia, business and international organizations to make STEM education a national priority to detonate its exponential development, in favor of innovation and economic growth in our country, so the reach is national and we have been receiving interest from Latin American organizations that would like to implement the Movimiento STEM´s intervention model, so we will maybe begin a social franchise strategy net year. The STEM training program, which is aimed at any person or group interested in training and certification in STEM competencies, particullarly, it is aimed for teachers from all over the country; the strategy to scale this program is being consolidated so that in the next months the coverage begins in each of the states of the country. The STEM Talent Development program aimed at high school youth with the objective of generating the conditions for them to make an informed vocational decision and raise awareness about STEM careers; the strategy for scaling this program is consolidated so that in the coming months the coverage begins in each one of the states of the country. The fourth strategy is the linkage and detection of talent where access to the tumentorstem.com platform is provided whereby young people, teachers and parents receive coaching and mentoring from STEM experts who are in various companies and institutions of the current labor market. For all the action axes, we are consolidating allies in each city of Mexico, from the Head of the office of the presidency, so it´s only matter of time for us to be able to scale all of our intervention model, we only need to wait the policy making process of our government and hold on.

Sustainability

Our mission is to inspire the minds that will change the world. Our vision is to be the beacon that develops, connects, concentrates and propagates STEM knowledge in the region. We have developed a model of intervention under 3 transversal axes of sustainable development objectives to fulfil the agenda 2030, gender perspective and relevant research.
