Mobile Data Consumption Simulator


Description

The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) as the regulator of Mexican telecommunications, has the attribution of designing policies and mechanisms aimed to protect the rights of users of these services, as well as the necessary information and communication mechanisms that enable them to make informed decisions on the contracting process, access and use of telecommunications services.

Institutions that develop transparent and adequate information available to citizens help them directly to make better decisions, detonating a virtuous cycle of information. An informed user is an empowered user.

According to that, IFT designed a mechanisms which allows to the user to calculate the quantity Mb consumed monthly, depositing their habits of use of the services and applications from their mobile. As soon as the user their monthly consumption, the data consumer simulator identify the plans offered in the market that are closer to their consumption, although Mobile Data Consumption Simulator is linked to Comparator of Services of Telecommunications.

Replicability

Mobile Data Consumption Simulator is a product of revision to international best practices. In this sense, any institution can take as an example this tool to replicate it.

Because development does not require resources, because the facilities and infrastructure of other institutions are occupied to be able to train different people throughout the Mexican Republic.


WSIS values promotion

The Mobile Data Consumption Simulator helps to promote values like access to information and knowledge because this mechanism allows each person in our community to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge in order to understand, participate actively in, and benefit fully from, the Information Society and the knowledge economy. It must maintain a constant redesign in order to meet any improvement that is required in the tool, such as the user interface, to include new variables derived from the changes that the offer has had over time, to maintain its functionality and sustainability.
