Mobile Coverage Maps Comparator


Description

The Federal Telecommunications Institute designed the “Mobile Coverage Comparator” tool that aims to inform and offer users a mechanism of consultation region or geographical areas of coverage where each mobile operator to provide its services, so, users will have the ability to know which mobile company adapts to your needs, at the same time can check coverage offered between the various companies.

This tool is unique of IFT, there´s no precedent that put at the disposal of the users of telecommunications the opportunity to visualize and compare coverage areas that offering different mobile operators, unfolding maps of the corresponding coverage and allowing an approach at street level. The main advantages of the tool are:
 Inform users to choose a rightly mobile service provider that suits your needs.
 It´s a tool with an easy access to the web, navigable in all kinds of devices (Tablets, PC´s, Smartphone) and has a glossary that enhances the experience in the use of the tool.
 Allows the user to superimpose the coverage of the different operators of mobile service in a geographic area, comparing the different coverage easily and accurately.
 It allows an excellent visualization of the unfolding maps offering the possibility to see the maps at street level.
 The Coverage maps have updated quarterly, based on the guidelines that set rates and quality parameters, this allow regular/makes updates for the analysis of the increase of the mobile service throughout the country.

Replicability

This project has managed to be a reference point for the implementation of public actions and policies by telecommunications regulators that aim to serve the rights of the population.
It could be replicated in any country as a useful tool easy to consult by users. In this way, it has been used for over two years.

The project is fully sustainable on account that for its construction it was necessary to use a free software.

This project helps to reaffirm the universality, indivisibility, interdependence and interrelationship of all human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the right to development, sustainable development and respect for human rights fundamental freedoms, as well as good governance at all levels, is also considered the universal ability to access and contribute to information, ideas and knowledge by promoting access to information and awareness-raising knowledge all stakeholders. In addition, it is considered that the exchange and strengthening of global knowledge for development can be improved by removing barriers to equitable access to information for economic, social, political, health, cultural, facilitating access to information in the public domain, including universal design and the use of assistive technologies.
