WSIS Prizes Contest 2019 Nominee

Programming for everyone

Description

San Luis is getting ready the fourth industrial revolution with actions to maximize digitization of the province, brought together in the program "San Luis 3.0" with special emphasis on the education of its children and youth.
Automation of production in rich countries affects the employment and wages of low-skilled workers, not only in their countries but also in those to which their products reach.
Emerging countries must adapt to technological change as quickly as possible by making the most of its benefits. The costs will also come through trade.
Once free connectivity is provided throughout the province, adaptation to technological change is promoted with a training plan in programming skills, the basis of the industry that is eating the rest.
The ultimate goal of this policy is to train 10,000 programmers in 2 years. The total number of students enrolled is 22,257 students, out of which 5% have already completed the first stage. Out of the latter, 36% passed the first certification and are taking the second stage exams.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said: “It’s more important to learn programming than to learn English.” He also stressed that this is the type of knowledge that needs to be taught "in every school in the world.”
This plan prepares thousands of people for their insertion in the technology industry.
