CTC MakerSpace

The CTC MakerSpace project refers to the implementation of a local action space to motivate the creation of responses to the needs of the community, through technology. A proposal that proposes a line of community development under the "do it yourself" methodological approach, which enhances the creative and imaginative potential of young people that can be exploited by providing them with the right tools at the right time and space. With this perspective, innovation and social entrepreneurship are generated as a mechanism for the transformation of life conditions.

The MakerSpace generate communities of Blended practices (a mixture of online learning and face-to-face learning) that enable and promote solutions for their context, based on the internet of things and the "do it yourself" and "do it with others" movement. Structurally, they have the following spaces for innovation:

The CTCs are an initiative of the Central Government of the Dominican Republic, led by the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, who from the beginning of the project has conducted its operations with a view to sustainability. Since then, the CTC has strategic national and international allies that trust in the project and its capacity for tangible transformation. So the incessant search of potential allies that allow opening the window of opportunities in which a center translates when it is installed in some vulnerable community, is possible.

Once the funding has decreased or ceased by the donors, it is just the constant management that we already do, which will allow us to continue developing the project and strengthening its impact in the communities in which it is locate.
