WSIS Prizes Contest 2019 Nominee

EyeClip

Description

HandEyes is a project that is responsible for developing products that improve the quality of life of people with visual disabilities. The goal of HandEyes is to achieve a more inclusive society by developing tools that can change and impact the lives of blind people. Thus they developed Eye Clip, an electronic device that was the gandor of the contest An Idea to change History, organized by The History Channel. Hand Eyes is a small gadget that can be attached to the cane of a blind person. This device uses an echolocation system, based on the emission of ultrasonic waves, which are captured by the same device when bouncing against existing objects in the environment. Upon receiving these signals, the device vibrates and emits sounds, which helps the user create a mental map of their environment. This is essential so that a blind person can find a better position in any environment.
