We are pleased to invite you to Digital@UNGA, taking place on 23 September 2025 at UN Headquarters, New York (Delegates Dining Room, 18:00–21:00 EST). Convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this high-level event will gather government leaders, industry executives, civil society, youth, and international organizations to spotlight digital cooperation and celebrate the power of technology to deliver for all.

Building on the legacy of SDG Digital, Digital@UNGA will elevate the role of digital as a force for good, guided by the Global Digital Compact and the World Summit on the Information Society outcomes. A series of affiliate sessions throughout the high-level week will further showcase digital impact across sectors. If you would like your session to be featured as part of the Affiliate Session Digital@UNGA programme, please submit your information through this form.

WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 Key Highlights and Outcomes
The WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, held in Geneva, was a significant global gathering that reflected on two decades of the World Summit on the Information Society. The event, held concurrently with the AI for Good Global Summit, served as a multi-stakeholder platform, bringing together over 11,000 participants from 169 countries to reaffirm the original WSIS principles and discuss the future of digital cooperation and inclusion. The event demonstrated the ongoing vitality of the multi-stakeholder WSIS community in building a more inclusive and sustainable information society and laid the groundwork for the 20-year review of the WSIS Process by the UN General Assembly.

Key Highlights and Outcomes

  • Global Participation: The event, held in conjunction with the AI for Good Global Summit, attracted over 11,000 participants from 169 countries.
  • Reaffirmation of Principles: Participants reaffirmed the core principles and values of the original WSIS.
  • Renewed Call for Digital Cooperation: The event emphasized the importance of leveraging existing mechanisms like the WSIS Forum and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
  • Future Vision: An ambitious new vision, "WSIS Accelerating Vision & Empowerment," was launched to shape the future of the Information Society.
  • Focus on Action Lines: The event highlighted the importance of using the 11 WSIS Action Lines to connect technology and development.
  • Diverse Engagements: Over 200 sessions were held, including the WSIS Prizes 2025 ceremony, Ministerial and Regulator Roundtables, and youth-focused activities.
  • Preparation for UN Review: The event's outcomes will contribute to the UN General Assembly's 20-year review of the WSIS Process in December 2025.

WSIS Stakeholders and ITU Member States are strongly encouraged to continue submitting their 20-Year Reports on the Implementation of the WSIS Outcomes, which provide an essential basis for measuring collective progress and identifying remaining gaps in the achievement of the Geneva Plan of Action. By contributing their national and institutional experiences, stakeholders help ensure that the global community benefits from diverse perspectives, practical lessons, and innovative approaches that can guide the next phase of WSIS implementation and digital cooperation.
