Action Line C7: E-Learning: The UNESCO Global Education Coalition in Action
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation
Session 365
Showcasing how collective commitment and multilateralism can offer an innovative framework for EdTech interventions
The Global Education Coalition (GEC), created by UNESCO, has been working during the last year on how to respond to problems caused by the pandemic worldwide in the field of education. To do so, GEC launched three missions: Global Skills Academy, Global Learning House and Global Teacher Campus. Each of these missions aims to reach one million beneficiaries.
The Global Skills Academy (GSA) aims to help young people and adults build skills for employability and resilience, offering free online trainings to respond to the growing consequences of COVID-19.
The Global Learning House (GLH) aims to provide quality, cost-free online and offline lessons and tutoring to learners, with a special focus in STEM areas, by mobilizing members’ resources, programmes and a large network of volunteer teachers and educators.
The Global Teacher Campus (GTC) aims to equipping teachers with ICT in Education skills to ensure quality and inclusive remote, hybrid and in-presence teaching and learning models in the context of education response to COVID.
By the end of March 2021, The Global Skills Academy has had 142k beneficiaries, the Global Teacher Campus 30k and the Global Learning House 149k. UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition shares WSIS Beyond 2015, towards 2025 vision on connecting ICTs with educational initiatives and activities. Collaboration among stakeholders, and the use of ICTs, have been key to achieve those results in 6 months, with movement restrictions in many countries around the world.
During this session, UNESCO will present the Coalition and its different missions, to then give the floor to representatives of several partners of the Global Education Coalition, who will share their work in these 3 missions and how ICT has been used to benefit students and adults involved in their initiatives.

C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life — E-learning
In 2021, many educational centers around the world are relaying on e-learning in order to continue their students learning. E-learning is also used to provide teacher training and find solutions to their problems. ICTs can also provide new learning methods for those youngsters who will soon access the labour market. Our missions are taking advantage of these technologies to find solutions to the education disruption caused by COVID-19.
