Collective innovation supported by the United Nations to create citizen initiatives and actions for the Sustainable Development Goals

Objective of the practice Ideathon for the SDG:

Train and provide tools to achieve the 2030 Agenda through dynamic, participatory and innovative events. With Ideathon for the SDGs, we bring the platform closer to social entities, organizations, companies, and universities for the acquisition of digital skills by the SDGs. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

1. Provide the participants in the workshop with digital and certified tools to work on the Agenda2030 and the SDGs in an online and collaborative way
2. Help identify and select a specific SDG, investigate the situation at the local level and create and develop initiatives and actions to act concretely with solutions to generate global impact
3. Develop critical and purposeful thinking, which allows you to be creative and innovate to transform your environment from local to global
4. Show success stories from previous "ideathons" Made in Spain

Empodera.ORG, the online platform to be used and showcased, is a collective intelligence ecosystem that helps create concrete initiatives and actions to involve citizens in the achievement of the SDGs. Institutions, companies and civil society have in Empodera.ORG an online and collaborative tool, to generate social innovation processes, in a simple and useful way, to achieve the 2030 Agenda. The objective is to jointly build a more ethical, inclusive and sustainable with the commitment of citizenship. It is an initiative of the Fundación Cibervoluntarios, which has the support of the United Nations through an agreement signed in September 2018, on the occasion of the third anniversary of the 2030 Agenda.

This initiative is based on a procedure created by university experts and a tested methodology that is certified by the Fundación Cibervoluntarios. The implementation of the Ideatt

hones by the SDGs has been adapted since 2020, taking into account the situation generated by COVID-19, with constant human and technological support online to create initiatives, coordinate actions, generate engagement, facilitate communication, measure the impact and guarantee the sustainability of everything that is generated before, during and after online events. Providing a comprehensive online training, monitoring and certification platform.

Mr. Angel Sola López
Mr. Angel Sola López Head of International Programs España Moderator

Angel Sola is Director of International Programs at Cibervoluntarios Foundation, fostering alliances with other organizations to promote the social use of technology to foster citizen's rights, opportunities and participation. Angel Coordinates the communication area of Horizon 2020 European projects and managing branding and creative concept of projects from the point of view of social action, NGOs and Digital Social Innovation. He works actively with international partners in the creation of Digital Solutions at National and European level always focusing on how technology can change people lives for good through Digital Skills Training.

Angel Sola gives talks at international conferences as Social Innovation expert related to citizen participation, Next Generation Internet, The impact of technology in our society, inclusion and technological volunteering. He has participated as speaker in events such as 4YFN at the MWC.

He's got a Degree in Advertising and Public Relations and a Masters Degree in Institutional and Corporative Communication. Having specialized afterwards y Social Media and Digital Marketing.


Ester Maestro
Ester Maestro Head of European projects Fundación Cibervoluntarios

With a background from organizing large events and managing International Relations and PR departments of different companies and associations, she is currently in charge or managing and coordinating European projects focused on ICTs for social inclusion and innovation at Fundación Cibervoluntarios, position that involves fundraising, project writing and presentation, project coordination (Erasmus+) and follow-up. She has participated in various international conferences, congresses, roundtables and seminars representing the Foundation.

Sustainability and replicability of the Ideathons for te SDGs

Empodera.org offers the possibility of building Agenda 2030 within the reach of citizens in a simple, sustainable and replicable way: Involving local communities directly in initiatives and concrete actions related to the SDGs. With an online methodology that can be replicated in different languages ​​and the possibility of carrying out activities remotely with digital training.

Empodera.org guarantees the acquisition and certification of digital entrepreneurship and innovation skills for all the people involved. Thus forming a civil society much more interested in building, co-creating and acting on specific needs related to the Sustainable Development Goals within its environment: real, scalable and replicable solutions from the local to the global.
