An intimate “Fireside Chat” to discuss the long-term view on care for our aging societies and the role that ICT’s play in future caregiving.  We have witnessed the challenges placed on the institutional care home system throughout this global pandemic as well as the devasting health consequences of loneliness and isolation.  This situation demands an effort in rethinking.  This panel brings together high-level speakers in policy-making, science and business.

Jeff Huber
Jeff Huber CEO Home Instead

Jeff Huber was named President of Home Instead Senior Care, the leading global provider of home care services for older adults, in 2010 and added the role of Chief Executive Officer in May 2015. In his position, Huber oversees global operations and directs strategic planning and advocacy initiatives for the franchise network. Huber joined Home Instead Senior Care in 1998 as a Franchise Development Manager when the organization consisted of 125 franchises. Today, Home Instead Senior Care provide more than 60 million hours care annually through more than 1,100 franchises offices in 12 countries. Under Huber’s leadership, Home Instead is committed to addressing the challenges of the aging global population by promoting consumer choice in care. Huber has also increased the organization’s commitment to leadership development and training to empower CAREGivers and families and to advance the organization’s mission: To enhance the lives of aging adults and their families.


Amal Abou Rafeh
Amal Abou Rafeh Chief of Programme on Ageing Unit United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)

Amal Abou Rafeh is Chief of Programme on Ageing Unit at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in New York. She serves on the Secretariat of the General Assembly's Open-ended Working Group on Ageing and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Titchfield City Group on Ageing-related Statistics and Age-disaggregated Data.

Amal joined the United Nations in 2001, working in the areas of social policy, sustainable development and demography, and served on the Secretariats of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (2002) and the High-level Meeting on Youth (2011). She held positions in Beirut and New York. Before joining the United Nations, Amal lectured and taught on analysis of social and demographic data. 

Amal was born in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and holds a Masters of Science in Population Studies from the American University of Beirut.


Esko Aho
Esko Aho Former Prime Minister Finland Moderator

Esko Aho is Chairman of the Board of Cinia Oy and Adven Group and on the Supervisory Board of Sberbank, Russia’s biggest bank. He is a member of Europe, Middle East and Africa Advisory Council at JP Morgan.

Mr. Aho was a Member of the Finnish Parliament from 1983 to 2003 where he chaired the Centre Party from 1990 to 2002 and was elected Prime Minister at the age of 36, making him the youngest PM in Finland’s history. Under his leadership, Finland joined the European Union. After his political career, Mr. Aho served as President of the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and then led Corporate Relations and Responsibility at Nokia. Mr. Aho serves as elected member of the Executive Board at the International Chamber of Commerce. He is an invited member of Club de Madrid, an independent organization of former heads of state and government dedicated to strengthening democracy.
