Information about the project
Peek Vision
The portable eye examination kit, also known as Peek, consists of a mobile app and clip-on hardware that transforms a smartphone into a tool that can check glasses prescription, diagnose cataracts and even examine the back of the eye for disease. Whether you’re a doctor in a hospital referring cases to an ophthalmologist, or a remotely based health worker sending data to a treatment clinic hundreds of miles away, images are available to send whenever the phone has data or a wifi connection. Images and patient information can be securely stored and shared for off-site review. This means important diagnoses are still carried out by trained eye care specialists. http://www.lshtm.ac.uk/newsevents/news/2013/peek_vision.html
