Project title *
Community Resource Centers
Description *
The Community Resource Centres are a focal point where the community members come for capacity building in various relevant areas of development and they can access information in print and electronic format. AfriAfya has demonstrated the use of ICTs to generate local content that is relevant to local communities. Groups have created audio and video recordings of drama, songs, poetry, puppetry and group discussions in local languages that challenge cultural practices that spread HIV/AIDS, and documented local traditions. The program has resulted in increased community discussion of sensitive issues on HIV/AIDS, demands for additional information including non-health information. There has also been improvement in community participation in health activities as well as health seeking behaviour strengthening HIV strategic information (SSI) through the community resource centres.
