Malawi will observe International Girls in ICT Day with a dynamic, full-day event at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) in Blantyre. T” the occasion will bring together 100 secondary school learners and 100 university students to explore opportunities within information and communication technology, address ongoing gender challenges, and establish a supportive nationwide network of female technology professionals. Programme highlights include: - Opening remarks on “The Power of Girls in ICT” - Viewing of the ITU BDT Director’s 2025 video message - Keynote addresses by the Dean of Science & Technology at MUBAS and the Chairperson of the MACRA Board - Student presentations by two university students - A panel discussion focused on overcoming barriers in ICT and STEM fields - Skills-building sessions covering cybersecurity and data protection, STEM demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory activities - Opportunities for networking and mentorship Impact: This commemoration aims to inspire interest in STEM disciplines, enhance self-confidence, and strengthen networks across educational levels for 200 female students.
