Women's Career Orientation Day:11:00-12:00 Shaping the future as a female IT specialist – stories, challenges, opportunities (Melánia Pamuki-Puskás) In the world of information technology and science, the presence of women is still decisive today. This lecture will show what role women have taken and continue to play in IT, and how they contribute to shaping the future with their research and ideas. The lecture will also highlight how IT can be a tool in areas such as healthcare, scientific research or personal development.12:00- 13:00 From Bits to e-Parliament - a look back at the challenges and successes of a first-generation Neumann Prize-winning IT professional to the present dayThe topicality of the conversation is served by the fact that a few weeks ago, a book presenting the life story of the Neumann Prize-winning IT woman, which also gives the title of the conversation, was published. The discussion will present the beginnings of Hungarian computer technology and how it was possible to get from simple programming, through database research, the management of a computer center to the success of Hungarian parliamentary IT. The John von Neumann Computer Society looks back to a very long history. It was founded in 1968 as the first professional computer science organisation in Hungary, pioneering this technology that was emerging at that time. Today it is gathering more than 50 professional organisations and cca. 2000 members.
