Description of the event
The Workshop, facilitated by the presence of Vladimir Daigele Barbosa, ITU Staff on a mission to Sao Tome and Principe, started with a joint presentation from UNICEF-STP and ITU, which included the ITU Secretary-General Video Message. It also featured testimonies from female professionals at the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sciences who work in the field of ICT. Additionally, it included accounts from students of the Portuguese School of São Tomé and Príncipe (EPSTP) who represented the country in the First Global Challenge, an international robotics competition. The workshop also highlighted the achievements of students who secured second place in the African Code Challenge, part of the Africa Code Week project. Their winning project was a game based on African food in Lusophone countries (PALOP).In the second part of the workshop, these students and other colleagues from the Robotics and Programming Club of EPSTP taught young participants from other schools and communities, but also staff from the Ministry of Education how to program using Scratch.This initiative is integrated in the National Programme for Digital Learning and will be replicated in remote communities.
