Description of the event
|
The "Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: Girls in ICT" project in Port Harcourt is a 1-day event designed to inspire and equip 100 adolescent school girls with the skills, confidence, and leadership qualities needed to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, particularly in ICT. The event, hosted on the 25th of April, 2024, aims to showcase the achievements and leadership of women in the tech industry, provide hands-on workshops and interactive sessions to build digital literacy and coding skills, and foster aspirations for leadership roles in STEM among participants.The project's objectives are twofold: to inspire and motivate girls to pursue careers in STEM and to provide them with the necessary skills and support to succeed in the digital age. Through engaging workshops, panel discussions, and mentorship opportunities, the event seeks to increase participants' interest in STEM subjects, enhance their digital skills, boost their confidence, and empower them to become future leaders in the tech sector. MindAfrica is creating a supportive and inclusive environment where girls feel valued and encouraged to explore their interests and ambitions.
