Description of the event
|
Promoting ICT to Primary Age Girls in Urban Areas in PNGIn some urban primary school, there is no skilled ICT teacher to guide the pupils despite having ICT resources, leading to underutilization of the resources and under motivated pupils. The aim of this event is to encourage fresh university students in their first and second years to offer inspiration to the pupils at their primary schools when they return home for semester breaks. In the first semester, this event would take place before the annual GICT event in April. As a year-long program, we will have three sessions in a year. The introductory programs would be provided by ITU DTC through their partners. Programs such as get connected and cybersecurity would be adopted and tried in the first year. These programs would enable the girls to connect to the Internet and be safe while online. Since most pupils have smart-phones, the training would be based on them. The students involved in the program would claim the hours as part of their professional work experience and well as participate in the research of establishing a baseline for the state of ICT in the primary level of PNG education system.
