Description of the event
|
The International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) International Girls in ICT Day falls on the fourth Thursday of April every year. Women in IT Solomon Islands(WITSI) again in 2024 is organizing a one-day Girls in ICT Day Conference to participate in the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) International Girls in ICT Day Event. Solomon Islands will again be joining the member states of ITU to commemorate this day which will take place on Thursday, the 25th of April, 2024.The purpose of this one-day conference is to advocate to our young girls, the ongoing appeal of taking an ICT career path. As experienced by most if not all of our current WITSI members, we got introduced to computers and ICT in University and it was a challenge to pursue ICT as a career. With the opportunity our young girls and women have to become more familiar with ICT at a younger age, we believe that the encouragement and inspiration from our current members and guest speakers could directly impact their decision to choose ICT as a career.
