Description of the event
|
Since 2019, African Women In Tech Startups is joining the global movement to celebrate the event in Cameroon with girls in primary schools, secondary schools and universities to commemorate this day. For the 2024 edition, the event will take place in Cameroon to impact more than 1000 girls from secondary to university by including young girls with disabilities.the event will be celebrated from 25th April to 04th May in 05 towns : Yaounde, Douala, Sangmelima, Ngaoundere, Bafoussam.Our main activities this year celebration are : Caravan and job fair in secondary schools and universities, Mentoring program with role models, Coding Competition and Award for girls in STEM universities : Encourage innovation and challenge through a coding competition who aims to propose a prototype solution about gender-based violence.

African Women In Tech Startups association, abbreviated AfricanWITS, was created in 2016 and recognized as a civil society entity in Cameroon since 2019 with the aim of expanding its activities internationally. Our main mission is to promote information and communication technologies (ICT) for women and young girls, boost female and young technology entrepreneurship.OUR SPECIFIC OBJECTIVESOur actions aim to support countries in sub-Saharan Africa in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically:● Participate in reducing the gender technological divide,● Achieve gender equality and empower women and girls in ICT● Facilitate access to quality education for women and girls to build careers in the field of emerging technologies,● Advocate for the inclusion of gender in ICT development policies and decisions in Africa.
