Description of the event
|
CodeMaven 4.0, a community engagement program organized by the School of Computer Sciences, USM in collaboration with Intel, aims to encourage and empower girls and young women to consider studies and careers in ICT from a younger age, thus enabling both girls and technology companies to reap the benefits of greater female participation and readiness in the ICT sector in Malaysia. All CodeMaven 4.0 activities are open to girls aged between 10 – 12 years old (primary school students). CodeMaven 4.0 will run in full face-to-face (F2F) mode following the information below: Date: 27 April 2024 (Saturday)Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Venue: Makerspace@USM, USM Penang. The event consists of LAUNCH + CODING WORKSHOP + GAME JAM. - LAUNCH: Get inspired by STEM/ICT career talk by female role models. Get started with coding in Scratch. - CODING WORKSHOP: Learn how to code and create games using Scratch. Get mentored by our cool coding mentors and CodeSysters. - GAME JAM (Game Design Hackathon): Showcase your creativity in a team of two (preferably from the same school) to create a fun game. Impress our judges and win exciting prizes and bragging rights.
