Alex WANG is Managing Director of 5G RAN Solutions at ZTE Corporation. His current role involves close engagement with global operators on 5G mobile communications system, from both technology perspective and business perspective. With the input from various operators, his team then helps to identify the strategic 5G RAN technology and solutions for global market. Alex has a rich and diverse experience in mobile communications and keeps frequent contact and engagement with operators across all six continents. Prior to his current role in 5G, he spanned across various areas of mobile communications, from network architecture and technology strategy to business analysis and business consulting.
Prior to ZTE, Alex worked for a Singapore mobile operator, developing mobile data products and services, primarily for consumer and mass market. He was then instrumental in the operator’s development and management of multiple mobile data services, starting from the very early days of SMS, WAP, GPRS, and all the way to mobile broadband. Alex started his profession in telecommunications researching on mobile communications theory, particularly the research and analysis of communication system performance under wireless Rayleigh fading channel. He was then the first researcher to achieve a closed-form solution to a type of mobile communication system under Rayleigh fading channel.
As a veteran of telecommunications industry, Alex is a frequent speaker at various global mobile conferences and events. He also holds an international patent in mobilecommunications. Alex graduated with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore, focusing on wireless communications.
