Shree Ma Vi Bijaybasti, Thori-4, Parsa celebration of International Girls in ICT Day 2019

Shree Ma Vi Bijaybasti is a higher secondary school situated in a remote and village area of Parsa District. The village is surrounded by Chitwan National Park on North and West side, Parsa National park on east side and Balmiki tiger reserve on the south side. There are a total of 700 students in this school. More than half of the students are girls. Girls studying in this school lack exposure and opportunities. Teach for Nepal started placing fellows in Science, Mathematics and English in this school since 2018.

This year on the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day 2019 we are inviting the Government authorities, local female leaders and a workshop on graph paper programming for girls studying in classes 8, 9 and 10. It is proposed to organize following events:

  1. Keynote speech by Vice Chairperson of Thori Rural Municipality, Mrs Shanti Maya Theeng
  2. Presentation of Video Message by ITU
  3. Awareness against misuse of Social Media for Teens
  4. One hour "Graph Paper Programming" workshop
  5. Information about careers in ICT 

Teach for Nepal Science fellow Kumod Kumar Sah has initiated this program with the help of other stakeholders.
