AFA, Association for Female Affirmation is organizing Hack#Teen event within "More Girls and STEM" in order to contribute to the promotion STEM professions among girls in Serbia.

In cooperation with Telekom Serbia, AFA will celebrate the International Girls in ICT Day, and together with girls from elementary schools will try to answer simple question: How to bring ICT closer to girls in primary schools and to motivate them to enroll STEM universities and schools?

Participants will work together with data analysts and programmers from Telekom and through practical work try to come up with the most innovative solutions to reduce gender gap in STEM. At the end of the day, the best ideas will be rewarded - and the winning team will have the opportunity to present their idea on Teenage stage at the AFA Innovation Week

It is of the utmost importance to adapt to the digital age and to utilize its full potential that can lead to major changes and contributions in the community, economy and the establishment of a sustainable society in Serbia. On the other hand, not using these features can lead to big differences and digital discrimination, as 50% of jobs performed by women, will be taken over by artificial intelligence in the next five years.

This event is a part of broader AFA Initiative "More Girls in STEM" that encourages and promotes more women in the fields of science and technology. Overall goal is to gather women from these areas who want to collaborate and contribute to the creation of inclusive environment in STEM professions. Within next months, AFA will organise mentorship programs, projects, meetings and hackathons that will bring closer girls with professions that are changing the world and motivate more girls to choose natural sciences career

The aim of the project is to bring together companies and individuals who want to cooperate and contribute and through the mentoring programs, bring closer education, projects, meetups and hakatones to girls and women who are changing the world and motivate as many people as possible to opt for natural sciences and professions of the future.
