Computing and Information Association (CIA): Girls in ICT Day

Computing and Information Association has been the organizer for Girls in ICT Day for years now, and  the year 2018, with the support from  ITU on August 17th organized the event at Kambwangwa Secondary School, Dar es salaam Tanzania whereby 38 girls students aged 14-18 participated in the event.

The event

The event started with remarks about  ‘Girls in ICT Day’,   what it is and why it is commemorated, followed by presentation on numerous opportunities available in ICT industry and ICT careers so that girls can just tap into.

Then the participants had a chance for ‘Hand-on activities’ where they learned how to create their own blog using blogger - a google platform and then in groups of 4 students they competed in a game answering tech-related questions online.

The event ending by launching an ICT club at school so that Computing and Information Association will frequently visit the club and meet with students for skills development.
