To eliminate poverty in women communities through vocational, economic and technological skills for life

To enhance a collaborative approaches towards women economic empowerment community for sustainable development

OUR OVERALL OBJECTIVE

To increase access to resources, technology, community awareness and skills for life in reduction to poverty among women communities

    

Strategic objectives

Delivery of integrated and equitably distributed essential services to women in relation to quality education at household level.

To promote family health methods, public and environmental health sensitization among rural women so as to conserve environment for the future generations.

Strengthen the legal, policy and institutional frameworks for programs that seek to protect women at all levels in democracy and transparency.

Enhance accountability, public support and sustainability of RWESORORO WOMEN’S TRUST and its members.

To facilitate and carry on HIV/AIDS awareness of the adolescent, youth plus the entire community and domestic violence among the household plus preventive measures and methods on HIV/AIDS and further encourage the PLWHA by investing hope in them that they can live for the next generation.

To implement training programs on HIV/AIDS pediatric counselors, community care givers at the house hold level and encourage income generating activities for support and improved health.

To promote entrepreneurship among women through simple micro credit services that can boost the level of income for women as a tools for poverty reduction and avoidance of domestic violence.

To promote childhood development, reproductive, child health educational initiatives and provide training to women, orphaned and out-school youth in job creation skills with a view of eliminating reliance and be able to care for their young siblings.

To improve on the rural-farming methods through training of rural farmers on better agricultural methods so as to produce for nutritional and commercial purpose with a view to boost household income.

To train the rural population on ICT as means to supplement their efforts on improving skills that enhances the welfare of women at grass root level as a tool for development.

Planned Event date:  12th April 2019

The Aim of the Girls in ICT Day 2019: 

The objectives this event is to highlight the use of ICT4D by women and girls in Uganda;

To draw the attention of policy makers to put in place favourable conditions for the women and girls to access and use ICTs; and

To showcase the use of ICTs in promoting the women and girls development through an exhibition.

All the above will be leading to the participants being introduced to new ICT4D tools and innovations; share the benefits of ICTs to women and girls at the end of the event; and information on how ICTs can enhance women and girls agenda.

Programmes & Activities: 

Rwesororo Womens Trust will undertake two activities to celebrate the Girls in ICT Day in Uganda on 12th April 2019 with an ICT Girls Forum and an ICT Exhibition and these will help the participants to get ICT knowledge and its benefits.

 

1) An ICT Girls Forum: 

Several partners from technology companies in Uganda like Kab Technologies, Rwenzori Technology Centre and Mountains of the moon University will present papers in this event.

Needless to say, there remains many impediments to women empowerment through the existing ICT policies such as;-

a. Gender information needs;

b. increasing women’s access to information mostly in the rural settings;

c. Use non-discriminative gender sensitive language in information and communication programmes and

d. Ensuring equal participation in ICT4D…

Some challenges that hinder ICT sector growth in Uganda are the following;

a. Resistance to change from manual to electronic enabled systems

b. Limited number of ICT specialists – tech savvy;

c. Inadequate policy framework;

d. Slow implementation of approved policies due to inadequate financing;

e. Low ICT network coverage especially for IT;

f. High cost internet bandwidth; and

g. Underdeveloped complementary infrastructure such as power.

2. An ICT Exhibition: 

The exhibition will showcase some of the test cases where ICTs can play a role in ensuring that women and girls can benefit and use the same for their wellbeing.

Several partners from technology companies in Uganda like Kab Technologies, Rwenzori Technology Centre and Mountains of the moon University will exhibit in this event.
