UPDATE FROM THE DAY:

We all had a fantastic day with so much in it that it is difficult to begin to explain.

Approximately 400 guests joined us at our FutureSkills campus from the I.T & Computing, Media, Games & Journalism and Media Make Up departments. A real cross-college event to heighten awareness of girls in ICT.

Our friends from Manchester Metropolitan University joined us to discuss Degree and Career pathways in our fantastic subject field.

Examples of events on the day included the following;

  1. Build a Computer
  2. Digital Animation Workshop
  3. 3D and Special Effects Workshop
  4. Doom! Gaming Challenge
  5. JavaScript Gaming Challenge
  6. Coding Workshop & Challenge

And so much more.

The competition for the day was to answer a series of questions - the tie-breaker being "Why is Girls in ICT a Good Idea?"

Our guests from MMU picked 3 winners who won a tablet PC, Computer Science Mug and Coaster set, USB Memory Stick and T-Shirt.

Following on from the annual resounding success of our event, we have decided to issue a monthly Girls in ICT e-magazine that will be published by the female I.T & Computing students and will be distributed globally.

Watch this space!!!

Please see images from the day - a great event, once again.
