The Internet Society Women's Special Interest Group, in collaboration with Wikimedia Foundation, is organizing a Global Editathon to encourage the creation of local online content for women and by women.

As online content by and for women is a strong motivation for women to use the Internet, this global initiative has two aims: make women in technology more visible and develop the capacity of women and girls as online content creators.

The global initiative will have local nodes organized by ISOC local chapters and it will take place on April 28. The main node will be in Mexico DF, but the initiative will also have local hubs in ten countries: Argentina, Peru, Panama, México (DF and Veracruz), Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, Cabo Verde, Pakistan and Kenya.
