Libyan Internet Society - Girls in ICT Day

With the participation of a group of Libyan girls at secondary level in a number of secondary schools located within the municipality of Abu Salim, under the slogan "Our Future Girls: Expanding Prospects and Changing Behaviors", the Libyan Internet Society, the General Information Authority , IT Colleage-Tripoli University and Aljeel Aljadeed Co, in cooperation with the Municipality of Abu Salim , celebrated on Thursday, 26 April 2018 for the third year in a row the GirlsICTDay.

At the ceremony, which was held at Aljeel Aljadeed Company premises , many speeches were delivered on the importance of reviving the day in raising awareness to encourage and motivate girls, especially those who are on the outskirts of their academic specialization, to enroll in specializations in the fields of ICT and to inform them about the opportunities available to them in this field and to raise awareness and support accordingly.

They also stressed the importance of the role of Libyan women in the areas of information and communication technology, their access to the digital knowledge society and the promotion of awareness of the importance of their effective contribution to achieving sustainable human development and overcoming the digital divide.

The event witnessed the participation of a number of Libyan women leaders in the fields of information and communication technology, in which they talked about their successful and distinguished experiences in their fields of work, as well as their personal experiences in the implementation of ICT projects.

The ceremony, which was held in the context of the international events, included a field visit to the Aljeel Aljadeed Company where participants learned about the role and status of Libyan women in the fields of information and communication technology and learned about their experience and expertise in these fields.

The ceremony concluded by honoring the participants in the ceremony and giving them certificates of thanks and appreciation for their participation in the commemoration of this World Day in contact with all the girls in the world.
