During ICTA’s open day it is aimed to raise awareness about safer and more responsible use of online technologies as well as the targets of Girls in ICT Day including encouraging girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs. 150 girls between the ages 10 and 13 and 150 foster-mothers who are directly in charge of their daily care and protection will participate in ICTA’s training on “Safer and Conscious Use of ICTs and the Internet”. The training will be conducted at two modules for girls and for the foster-mothers separately. During the training, participants will be informed about the means and ways to benefit from the ICTs and the internet while being aware of the treats that we face every day. At the end of the training a certificate of attendance will be presented. Following the training, girls and the foster-mothers will visit the ICTA’s “Experience Center” which demonstrates various new technologies including vertical reality and many internet applications. They will have the opportunity to discover these technologies and practice what they have learned during the training. Finally, they will visit ICTA’s “Safer Internet Truck” which is a mobile training and experiment facility that brings the new technologies to the people who have limited or no access to ICTs and/or the internet throughout the country. ICTA hopes this open day to be fun and instructive at the same time for these special 300 visitors and it can contribute the visibility of the ITU’s goals attached to Girls in ICT Day. |
