Oracle - Mumbai Chapter - International Girls in ICT Day, 2018 - Innovation capacity & Entrepreneurship4/25/2018Asia & pacific, India, Mumbai, Maharashtra, IndiaOracle observes the International Girls in ICT Day at Mumbai in collaboration with SNDT University to encourage girls for careers in the growing industry of Information and Communication Technologies and to raise awareness about gender gaps in this sector. Changing that dynamic and encouraging more women to enter STEM-related careers is important to the future of the Indian economy—a future that hinges to a great extent on nurturing STEM graduates. STEM education also encourages innovation which is the basis of entrepreneurship. Lack of female role models in STEM is a discouraging factor which we wanted to address by having women technocrats from Oracle speak to girls, hear the girls, boost their confidence and build their aspiration. The future of work will be alarmingly different with disruptive technologies changing how we work and live. Girls are to know where the jobs lie , how to navigate their careers get stimulated to have full understanding of Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Intelligent BOTS, Blockchain, Augmented and Virtual reality to mention a few. Women are unaware that they are born entrepreneurs. Interaction with a women entrepreneur, knowing her journey and her unique skill set, especially digital ones and the quest to learn and use of diverse digital platforms on the day of celebration will open up new doors for the girls. Team members from the Oracle Start up Accelerator team will speak to girls on entrepreneurship and how startups drive social transformation. Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator is a next-generation acceleration initiative. The program focuses on reimagining enterprise innovation through partnerships with start-ups that foster co-development and co-innovation, where we all win.
