EY: Girls@ICT Day - let's code an app

4/26/2018

Code your first app at school!

On April 26, 2018 employees of EY Switzerland will deliver a free app building workshop to girls in 5 schools in the Kanton of Bern.

EY will spend half a day with groups of 30 girls at different schools and talk about digitalization and why STEM jobs are great for girls. This day will be real fun for the girls aged 11 to 15: We are going to learn playfully how digitalization affects our daily lives and future and code a Translation App together which the girls can check and use on their Smartphones immediately.

After the workshop, the girls are invited to a mentoring session. The girls will have the opportunity to talk to successful female role models from EY, ask them questions on their experience and learn more about the opportunities different ICT related careers could offer them.

This initiative is a cooperation between Digitalmuse.org and EY across Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Next year EY plans to visit even more schools and offer this great workshop to more girls. We consider it important to motivate as many young girls for STEM jobs and prepare them for the digital working world as possible.

If you are a school or a parent and are interested in this workshop, please reach out to us and we’re happy to come to your school in 2019. Mail to: womenfastforward@de.ey.com.
