e-Business Life Communication Limited in Collaboration with Vodacom Business Nigeria6/29/2017Africa, Nigeria, Lagos, NigeriaThe facility visit to Vodacom Business Nigeria As part of the incentive for the first prize winner in the App Development and the competitions in the just concluded 2017 edition of the International Girls in ICT Day Celebration organized by eBusiness Life Communication Limited, a field trip to the Corporate office of Vodacom Business Nigeria was undertaken by some female students from the winning school. The field trip, held on June 29, 2017, afforded the 20 female students from the school, Baptist Girls High (BGH) School, accompanied by the school principal, Mrs Eunice Akanji and ICT Instructor, Oladapo Kayode of the opportunity of being trained in ICT related fields. The students were chosen from Senior Secondary one (SS1, an equivalent of Grade 10) class, comprising Art, Commercial and Science students. The training, which among others, was aimed at encouraging more female students to choose a career in ICT, also provided the students with first-hand experience of new technologies that are driving the world’s largest economies. These include Machine-To-Machine (M2M); Cloud services, and Simulation, among others. Senior Product Manager, Vodacom Business Nigeria, Funke Atanda took the students on a journey through the technologies that will shape the future and encouraged them to ensure that they are well equipped with ICT know-how so as to be part of the future digital revolution. She further challenged them on innovativeness, pointing out that Nigeria needs females who can innovate and conceptualise ICT services that will help the country align and compete favourably with the global community. She enumerated future technology trends to include Internet of Things (IoT) and smart Home Technologies; Automated and Virtual Realities; Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and Automation/Robotics. Others include Humanised Big Data; Physical and Digital Integration and Everything On-Demand. The students had a practical hands-on experience on Virtual Reality. Other mentors who spoke to the girls included Senior Manager, Human Resources, Olajumoke Mustapha; Vendor specialist, Yinka Adeyomo and Business Development Accounts Manager, Emmanuella Obanya. Thereafter, the students were taken on facility tour and further enlightenment of the company’s operations and Server Room. Gift packs and lunch were distributed to the students. The students expressed happiness at the opportunity the field trip afforded them to be better informed and educated on the various career paths in ICT. |
