The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) hosted a one (1) day robotics workshop on Friday 5th May 2017 to commemorate Girls in ICT Day 2017. The workshop was attended by fifteen (15) female students from Secondary Schools in the Barataria area.

These students were given the opportunity to build a mechanical robotic device by utilising programming language, facilitated by members of the Innovation Department of the National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology. 

Before the end of the day, the girls were able to combine engineering and ICT to develop intelligent robots guided by their commands. Using motion sensors, the robots performed movement tasks  such as turning left, right or spinning without touching other objects. The robots were also able to speak on command.
