Today, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and CA Technologies hosted a Tech Girls Rock workshop at the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County. This program encourages girls to discover an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational studies and careers. 

Tech Girls Rock takes aim at the declining rate of women who are pursuing degrees in tech-related fields (12 percent of computer science graduates in 2012 compared to 37 percent in 1985, according to the National Center for Women in Technology) and matriculation into the technology workforce. The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that women make up 58 percent of the U.S. workforce, but only 25 percent of the computing workforce. CA Technologies recently signaled their commitment to driving diversity in the workforce at the annual World Economic Forum.

 After participating in Tech Girls Rock workshops, 84 percent of participants say they would consider a tech-related educational opportunity and 69 percent say they have interest in a tech-related career.
