Celebration of Girls in ICT Day - Ministry of Information & Communications of Bhutan

On 25 April 2019, the Department of IT and Telecom of the Ministry of Information & Communication Bhutan celebrated Girls in ICT Day. The event took place in the framework of the Bhutan National Techstars Startup Weekend 2019 (25-28 April 2019). Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Education, attended the official inauguration.

This was followed by a ‘Design Thinking workshop’ where 20 girls from 4 schools in Thimphu were provided hands-on training in Photoshop basic design and entered a competition where the top 3 design were awarded prizes.

After the workshop, the girls shared their experiences, expressed that the skills they acquired were extremely useful for them, and showed interested in strengthening their knowledge of Photoshop in the future. Some indicated they want to design the characters from stories they have read!

The event was organized in collaboration with Bhutan Telecom and Tashi Cell. The venue was provided by Athang Training Academy.
