On 25th of April, 2019, Kaunas University of Technology Faculty of Informatics invited high school schoolgirls and girls who recently graduated from high school, to participate in a full day of hands-on activities, contests and an inspirational discussion in the event “DIGITAL GIRLS: rock IT on” (www.digitalgirls.lt) in order to celebrate international “Girls in ICT day”.

Event began with a trivia quiz “Mindfight” for selected girl teams. During the first selection phase girls were participating in short movie contest where they had to introduce one of the 23 European ICT (Information Communication Technologies) professions and to motivate to choose it! Selected teams were competing for valuable prizes established by our partner – Microsoft.

The event continued with a discussion where strong women studying and working in ICT sector shared their experience and good practices, gave advice how to start the career in the ICT field. Furthermore, since this year event focused on answering the question "How to become your own career's influencer?" one of Lithuanian influencers Indre Stonkuviene participated in the discussion. Girls were able not only to participate in the discussion in the auditorium, but also to watch the broadcast and contribute by asking questions. 

After the discussion participants had an opportunity to choose workshop and get acquainted with one of several proposed fields of information technology. Girls were invited to try virtual reality simulations and learn more about creating VR projects and games, put to the test their diligence while brazing a blinking microchip, try to builg a LEGO robot and program it or learn how to use Apps for creating more advanced presentations and photo collages.
