“Women in ICT: opportunities and perspectives” training | The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies

On April 25, 2019 The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, “AREA” Robotics and Engineering Academy and “Chip.az” LLC held a training under the theme “Women in ICT: opportunities and perspectives”.

This training covered the following topics: “Modern trends in the field of ICT”, “Business in social networking”, “Career path for the girls in the field of ICT”, “Business opportunities in the field of robotics” and “Development perspectives of robotics in Azerbaijan”.

The event has been attended by more than 70 female student from several Universities of Azerbaijan.

At the training, it was noted that in recent years, the activities of the Girls in ICT Day have significantly expanded their scope, turning from one-day events into global and action programs designed to train girls to work with ICT throughout the year.

It was stressed that ICT is one of the key factors in ensuring gender equality and empowering women. With access to these technologies, girls and women can easily take advantage of the opportunities to create new jobs and develop entrepreneurship activities.

At the same time, it was pointed out that the Girls in ICT Day is a global initiative aimed at contributing to bridge the digital divide by encouraging girls and young women to choose the direction and profession in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
