Description of the event

The 2026 International Girls-in-ICT Day Campaign event was organized in Lagos, Nigeria, by the media organization, E-Business Life Communication Limited, held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki, and brought together students, educators, technology professionals, industry stakeholders, and development partners to celebrate and advance girls' participation in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). 72 girls from nine (9) schools, both public and private, participated in this year’s eventThis year, our partners included the telecoms regulator, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Digital Encode; MTN Nigeria; Zora Communications Limited; VDT Communications; and Digital Realty Nigeria.New Horizons Nigeria offered winners of the STEAM and AI Competitions an IT Training Scholarship at its facilities.The activities of the day included an interactive student panel, which provided first-hand insights into how young girls perceive and utilize Artificial Intelligence; another was a STEAM Quiz Competition; exhibitions of practical AI-driven and technology-based solutions addressing societal challenges; and Women in ICT Partners' Panel Session.
