Description of the event
|
The Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) under the department of Research Science Technology and Innovation (RSTI) in collaboration with Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) commemorated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and the International Girls in ICT Day 2026.This event took place on 12 May 2026 under the theme: “Synergizing Artificial Intelligence and STEM: Empowering Women and Girls to Shape an Inclusive Digital Frontier.” The event took place in three venues covering all the regions of Eswatini where a remarkable turnout of 441 stakeholders was achieved. The main venue was The George Hotel in Manzini, with two additional satellite venues in Mankayane and Nhlangano where an overall engagement from the youth was particularly inspiring, with students making up approximately 80% of the total attendance. The Women and Girls in Science & ICT Celebration 2026 successfully highlighted the importance of empowering women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
