Description of the event
|
In line with the global observance of Girls in ICT Day led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) CALABARZON reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital inclusion, gender equality, and youth empowerment in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).The activity addressed the need to bridge the gender gap in STEM by providing young girls with early exposure to technology and opportunities to engage with ICT role models and professionals. Anchored on DICT’s mandate to advance digital literacy and ICT competency development, the event created a hands-on and empowering learning environment for participants.Implemented in partnership with the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines Batangas Chapter, the activity featured a booth-based Tech Exploration Fair with interactive stations on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Coding, and Digital Design. Participants gained practical knowledge, digital skills, and awareness of responsible technology use while developing creativity, critical thinking, and confidence to pursue future careers in ICT.
