Description of the event

Girls in ICT Day, organized by the Uganda National Association for Computer Users (UNACU), is a national event held in recognition of the global International Girls in ICT Day, an initiative originally established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).The event is designed to inspire, educate, and empower girls and young women across Uganda to explore opportunities in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It provides a dynamic platform where participants gain hands-on experience in digital skills, including basic computing, coding, internet use, and emerging technologies.During the event, students interact with ICT professionals, industry experts, and mentors who share real-life experiences, career guidance, and insights into the technology sector. Activities such as workshops, innovation challenges, group projects, and interactive sessions are conducted to build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.Special focus is given to reaching girls from underserved and rural communities to ensure inclusivity and equal access to digital opportunities.
