Girls in ICT Day – Robotics Coding Training for Earthquake Victim Girls

Description of the event

BTK Academy, which was established in 2017 as the training center of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) of Türkiye, provides several trainings to children and youth including robotics coding, phyton programming, ThinkerCad 3D design, drone algorithm, entrance to AI, C# programming, etc.Following the devastating earthquake that hit Türkiye on 6 February 2023, BTK Academy’s mobile class was sent to the earthquake region in order to help children in the region cope with the immense trauma they have experienced. With three different teams, approximately 2500 students were trained in 16 different tent locations in Adıyaman and Hatay provinces during February and March. Within the concept of these activities and on the occasion of Girls in ICT Day, a special training session was organized on 26 February 2023 for schoolgirls at different age groups. Basic level robotics coding training was given with mBot and Makey Makey sets. Very positive feedbacks have been received from the trainees and the training provided for the girls the opportunity to experience the programming field and to discover their potential in STEM.
