Description of the event
|
The African Union CIEFFA recognizes the necessity of inspiring and encouraging girls to pursue a career in ICTs and to ensure they have the necessary technical skills, confidence, and support to achieve their goals as part of the development agenda. This year, the theme for the International Day of Girls in ICT titled “Digital skills for life” aligns perfectly with axes three of African Union CIEFFA’s Strategic Plan (21-25) - STEAM and skills development. It is equally a logical follow-up of the recent 67th session of the Commission on the status of Women in March 6 - 17, 2023 on the theme "Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls", during which African Union CIEFFA and CARE International ran a side event on, “Accelerating girls and women’s education through inclusive and gender-responsive policies and funding” on March 9, 2023 in New York.African Union CIEFFA will therefore convene an open webinar under the theme, “Digital Skills for Life: Online Safety to Ensure Continued Skill Development for Girls and Women” on April 27, 2023.
