Description of the event
For the 2022 edition, the event will take place in Cameroon with physical activities and in the Republic of Congo with virtual activities to impact more than 1000 girls from 10 to 25 years old in STEM. The event in Cameroon will be celebrate with girls between the ages of 13 to 25, who are technically at the secondary school and/or University level in 06 cities in Cameroon to carry out face-to-face activities. Our goal is to reach around 500 girls students and young women.For its participation this year, AfricanWITS has selected 03 dates, for a phygital event:Day 1: April 28, 2022 - ICT GIRLS VIRTUAL HACKATHON LAUNCH topics of the hackathon : - Cybersecurity- Cyberbullying and youth cyberviolence in school- Fact-checking Day 2: April 29, 2022 - CEREMONY WITH OFFICIALS AND STRATEGIC PARTNERS - online & face-to-face.Propose a national strategic plan to decision-makers to ensure a safe environment for young girls and women onlineDay 3: April 30, 2022 - JOB FAIR, WORKSHOP AND AWARDS Creating opportunity for students to network with employers. Employers who are hiring are invited onto campus to showcase their company and discuss employment opportunities with students.

The African Women In Tech Startups association, abbreviated as AfricanWITS, has been recognized as a civil society entity in Cameroon with the aim of expanding its activities internationally.AfricanWITS' main mission is to promote information and communication technologies (ICT) for women and young girls, boost female and young technological entrepreneurship. Our association now has the following divisions within it:  A Female Tech Hub An incubator specializing in technological entrepreneurship and innovative services for women, young people and for the development of community projects in the field of ICTs and empowerment.  An Academy for the training and mentoring of women and young girls An advisory and advocacy body to support international policies and institutions in the implementation of development programs and plans to reduce the technological gender gap in sub-Saharan Africa.
