Description of the event
|
1. Description of the event: A 4-day digital learning experience to develop ICT skills (ie. mobile app creation and basic coding) as well as sharpening life essential skills (ie. critical thinking, problem solving, creativity & innovation and communication) through Axiata Virtual Girls Coding Challenge will put the selected Malaysians female undergraduates to test while they attempt to solve various problem statements on national issues in Health, Environment and Education areas. They will need to deliver the solutions to the given problem in the form of Mobile App solution, through a pitch-out presentation session to the respective stakeholders/judges while putting their essential skills to test. This holistic experience will encourage them to apply ICT skills, as well as their soft skills while working with other team members of diverse background. They will also be virtually coached by Axiata Women Mentors throughout the process. The winning team will be rewarded accordingly by Axiata Group Berhad | 2. Qualifying Criteria •Malaysian female undergraduates between 19-25 years of age •Preferably undertaking ICT-related fields at public universities in Malaysia • Keen interest in digital technologies, programming / coding, mobile app development, data analysis, 3D printing, robotics, and other related fields •Good communication skills, analytical & problem-solving skills, and creativity | 3. Types of Activity Online Training, virtual mentoring, Mobile App Challenge, pitch-put session at the grand finale to the judges/key stakeholders | 4. Target of participants: University Students and Young Professionals (18-25 years old) Girls and young women (25 and below) Applications to Axiata Virtual Girls Coding Challenge will be published on Axiata social media platforms and selection processes will be done according to a set criterias. The intent is to get University Students and Young female professionals / applicants from a diverse background to apply to ensure equal economics, good dynamics and social participation. | 5. Tentative date and itinerary/schedule Recruitment Campaign period: 26 April 2021 – 16 May 2021 4-day Challenge:21 May 2021 & 4 June 2021 – 6 June 2021Programme scheduled between May 25th and June 6th: Day 1: Virtual Learning on Critical Skills (3Cs: Critical thinking, creativity & communication) and intro to Axiata Virtual Girls Coding ChallengeDay 2: Basic coding and Mobile app Training *(physical session if possible)Day 3: Guest speakers in each key national topics: Health, Environment, Education; Design of the app solution and virtual coaching with Axiata women mentorsDay 4: Virtual Final Presentation to judges/key stakeholders | 6.
