Description of the event

As part of the girls in ICT day 2021 in Somalia celebrations we will holding a conference to discuses the challenges and opportunities for girls and women in ICT we will have participation from the government, the private sector, universities and civil societies. We also organized 6 workshops in order to train 120 girls in important ICT skills such as web design, app development, graphics design, video editing, cybersecurity awareness and social innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition to a girls in ICT competition were we had more than 20 applicants and 4 winners who developed websites, Apps and video's to showcase the COVID-19 pandemic effect on Somali women, highlighted the negative sides of the Somalia society on women weather its educating girls or giving employability opportunities to girls to FGM and rape cases.

on the 23rd of April and as part of the the Girls in ICT day 2021 celebration, the NCA in collaboration with MoCT and NTI are hosting a Woman in ICT Conference to celebrate the Somali women and girls in the ICT sector and to empower them to reach their full potential.


		An online 2 day Cybersecurity awareness and protection course was conducted in Somalia by the National communications Authorities Cybersecurity department for girls and women in the ICT field so that they become aware of the of dangers of ICT especially during COVID-19 when we relaying more and more on the digital world.
	An online 3 day Social innovation and entrepreneurship workshop was hosted in Somalia by the National communications Authorities and conducted by Dr. Anthony Giannoumis, for girls and women in the ICT field so that gain the tools necessary to start them on the path of innovation and entrepreneurship and help them take their ideas and apply them to bring positive change to Somali society.
