The Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program at NASA Glenn Research Center and TechGirlz have partnered to host a virtual computer programming workshop on Monday, April 19th in honor of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Day. Girls in ICT Day is a global initiative to encourage young women to consider studies and careers in the ICT field. Students in seventh and eighth grade are invited to learn how to program using Python starting with simple data types, including numbers, lists, letters and strings. Participants will explore comparisons, if-statements, and loops and use what they learn to create their own game. Attendees will need access to a computer, the internet and create a free Trinket.io account prior to the event.
