This year on 23 of April, forum devoted to "Girls in ICT" International day will beorganized in Armenia, by the ‘Women and Information Society’ NGO, with partnershipof various stakeholders from private and public sectors and  with information support from theInternational Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The ‘Girls in ICT’ International day has been celebrated in Armenia since 2012. Over 7,000 girls andyoung women from all provinces of Armenia have taken part in different events,since 2012.

The ICT industry needs girls to take an active part in shaping ourfuture. The celebration is an excellent opportunity to encourage girls inArmenia to pursue careers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

 Successful female leadersfrom ICT Industry and  institutions sharetheir knowledge and experience, as well their ideas to success in ICT, on thatday.

The schoolgirls speak about the acquired new skills and share withtheir peers.

This year more than four hundred schoolgirls from Armenian schoolshave participated in Technovation - World’s largest technology entrepreneurshipcompetition for girls. During 12-week training they have learned five modules:ideation, coding, business, marketing and presentation.

Young girls formed teams, identified a problem in their communityand developed a mobile app to solve it, and launch a start-up.

  Celebration of theInternational “Girls in ICT” Day is a good opportunity for schoolgirls to sharetheir developed application with their peers, as well to share with interestingmeetings and speak about the acquired new skills during app development.
